Tropical Diseases
MSCI has completed vector-borne disease control activities
in 40 countries. Assisted in developing comprehensive health plans
in the U.S. and more than 45 countries around the world.
We provide a multidisciplinary approach in addressing the
impacts of environmental change on human health. Our approach combines
environmental health, life sciences,
international development and engineering experience into a well-focused
Center of Excellence committed to finding long-term technical and social
solutions to environmental conditions that impair human health and the
quality
of life.
Vector-Bourne Diseases
We assist health personnel to
combine resources; integrate programs, cross train personnel and promote
community participation. We have assisted institutions to use all their
resources to derive the most value from health dollars to combat illness
and promote health. Over three decades, in more than 60
countries. We have assisted to:
-
Assess the nature and epidemiology of
major causes of morbidity and mortality
-
Develop Plans that are adapted to local
problems, conditions and resources
-
Analyze the costs of control options
relative to disease impact costs
-
Train management and technical staff to
work within primary health care environments
-
Design Information Systems for guiding
interventions and deploying resources
-
Develop environmentally sound control
programs
build partnerships between governments, communities, NGOs and the
private sector
COMMUNITY AND FAITH-BASED INITIATIVES
Trafficking in Persons (TIP)
Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The FAITH Consortium with MSCI as a managing partner,
implemented a program to strengthen the criminal justice response to
trafficking in persons in Liberia and Sierra Leone. One of the
objectives is to raise awareness about trafficking in communities
throughout the country to empower and protect people from unscrupulous
traffickers who prey on the vulnerable populations of post-war,
poverty-stricken countries.
HIV/AIDS: ABC-VCT
A three year, three-country (Mozambique, Malawi and Haiti) project
with local partners to identify U.S. and local community- and
faith-based organizations with experience and/or interest in
implementing ABC projects.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Over the years we have developed professional
training and continuing education programs providing professional
health education and training workshops, seminars and conferences for
public health and medical fields.
In international development field, we have promoted
healthy behavior through community-wide forums, formations of health
committees, as well as training
community health promoters and local volunteers in the latest procedures
and practices.
