US // IN-FOCUSGEORGIA FIGHTS TUBERCULOSIS
Since 2003 Medical Service Corporation International has assisted the Republic of Georgia in fight against Tuberculosis epidemic with USAID Tuberculosis Treatment and Control program.
As a result of the program, the quality of TB diagnosis has improved by 80%, and the positivist rate of TB has increased by over 40%.
MSCI has helped strengthen diagnosis of TB and the
implementation of Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS)
program in Georgia. In response to these results, the National Reference
Laboratory is replicating the USG-funded intensive coaching approach in
all 37 smear laboratories in Georgia.
