International Welcomes For over 25 years, Dr. Janssens has organized and managed national medical models and prevention programs for host country governments, various global and donor organizations, including the WHO. He has extensive experience directing communicable disease treatment and prevention programs throughout the former Soviet Republics and Eastern Europe; helping nations to treat tuberculosis and other lung diseases while improving the quality of health care services and equitable distribution of medical resources. As a clinician and public health expert, Dr. Janssens has conducted feasibility studies and needs assessments, provided health sector analyses, and capacity building assistance throughout Africa, Asia, and Europe. Throughout the 1980s, Dr. Janssens delivered primary health care services and managed leprosy and tuberculosis control programs in Congo. While serving as Director of Projects for the Damien Foundation in Belgium, he oversaw development and implementation of more than 100 overseas communicable disease treatment programs, enabling the Foundation to become a leading agency in the fight against tuberculosis.
